Date Night Ideas for Music Lovers

If you and your partner both love music, then planning a music-themed date could be a lot of fun and very romantic. Whether you both love a night at the symphony or a gig in a dive bar, try these ideas for dates for music lovers.

See a Local Gig

Your local music scene might have lots more to offer than you think. Check local listings and see what's on nearby. You might even find the next big thing, or end up seeing an amazing band that prefers smaller venues. Perhaps you'll find yourself watching some amazing local talent. If you're not able to see your favorite band, look for the next best thing and see a cover band. Whether the band is good, bad, or just funny, you have a fun night out with your partner.

Try World Music

If you both enjoy exploring music from other cultures, go and see some live. Look for world music festivals, salsa nights, or dance halls. Church halls, community centers, and festivals often have great line-ups of world music and food. This can be a really fun way to try something different, and you might find another music style that you love.

Visit a Record Store

Good record stores are getting harder to find these days, so visiting one can feel special enough for a date. Do some research to find the best record stores nearby, and make a road trip out to the one you want to visit. You can spend the afternoon browsing the racks, possibly chatting with the owner, and adding to your collection. Set yourself challenges like finding the best album art or an album you loved as a teenager. Share your finds with each other.

Attend a Symphony

If you're interested in classical music, then go to see a symphony. If you're on a budget, see if you can get rush seats which are unsold seats that are sold (generally at a lowered cost) in the hour before the show starts. The symphony is a great excuse to get dressed up in fancy clothes even if you're not huge fans of classical music.

Find a Jukebox

For a relaxed but fun date, visit your favorite dive bar and take over the jukebox for the evening. Make sure you take plenty of change so you can keep feeding the jukebox. Take turns choosing the song, have a few beers, and just enjoy each other's company and the music.

Music is an integral part of everyday life; and the wide varied spectrum of genres, activities, and possibilities is seemingly endless. Enjoying music with your partner can be the catalyst for conversations that unlock facets of their personality and a deeper understanding of their personal preferences, artistic tastes, and willingness to branch out into new experiences.
